Notifications in the app (iPhone and Android)

In the Inkfuchs Studio and Inkfuchs apps, notifications come straight through Apple or Google – no Home Screen detour, just turn on and allow.

Last reviewed: 10 October 2026

In the app everything works like in the browser – just simpler: no “Add to Home Screen”, no browser prompt. Notifications come straight to your phone – through Apple on iPhone, through Google on Android –, even when the app is closed.

Turn on – in three seconds

  1. In the Inkfuchs Studio app, open My account → Notifications.
  2. Tap Turn on notifications.
  3. Your iPhone asks whether Inkfuchs Studio may send you notifications – tap Allow. On Android 13 and later your device asks the same – tap Allow; older Android versions don't ask.

It then says On for this iPhone or On for this Android device. Tap Send a test to see what it looks like.

What reaches you, Show content in notifications and Quiet hours work just like in the browser – all of it in Notifications on your phone. The settings belong to your account, the same in the app and in the browser.

One tap opens the right place

Tap a notification and the app opens right there: in the request, the conversation, the appointment – even when it comes from another of your studios (the app switches there first). If the app is open, the notification shows up as a banner at the top.

When you open the app, it clears its notifications from Notification Center or the notification shade and resets the number on the app icon. Whatever is still unread, the app shows you itself. New messages in the same conversation replace the older notification instead of piling up.

“Notifications are turned off”

If you tapped Don't Allow the first time or turned notifications off later, the app shows this hint. Tap Open Settings:

  • iPhone: tap Notifications, turn on Allow Notifications and switch back to the app.
  • Android: the app's notification settings open directly – turn notifications on and switch back. Under Inkfuchs (the app’s channel) you can also set sound and vibration there.

For your customers: the Inkfuchs app

Customers turn on notifications in their customer area under Account → Notifications – in the Inkfuchs app or in the browser. When you write to them, they get “New message from …” with your studio’s name. The notification never shows the message text.

Studio and customer stay strictly separate: the Inkfuchs Studio app only takes studio accounts, the Inkfuchs app only customer accounts – and each only gets the notifications of its own area.

What's in a notification – and what never is

The same rules as in the browser: short, for example New request · Tattoo – “Kim, forearm, approx. 10 × 8 cm”. Never included: health details, answers from consent forms, text or photos from customer messages, motif descriptions, email addresses or phone numbers.

In the app, notifications travel through Apple's push service (iPhone) or Google's (Firebase Cloud Messaging, Android). Unlike in the browser they aren't end-to-end encrypted on the way: Apple or Google deliver title and text. Switch off Show content in notifications and it only says “New request” there too – no names. On Android, the app only signs up with Google once you turn notifications on.

FAQ

The app says “Please update the app” or “Notifications are coming with the next update”.

Older versions of the app can't receive notifications yet. Get the latest version and open the app once more.

I'm not getting notifications in the app.

Check under My account → Notifications whether it says On for this …, whether quiet hours are running and whether the switch for the event is on. In a Focus mode or “Do Not Disturb” your phone holds notifications back. And in your phone's settings notifications must be allowed for Inkfuchs Studio – on iPhone under Notifications → Inkfuchs Studio, on Android under Apps → Inkfuchs Studio → Notifications. Some Android phones close apps very strictly to save battery; if so, exclude Inkfuchs Studio from battery optimisation.

Do I get a notification twice if I also turned them on in the browser?

Every device under My devices gets its own: on the Mac in the browser and on the phone in the app. Remove whatever you don't need there.

What happens when I sign out?

When you sign out in the app, notifications stop on that phone. If someone else signs in there and turns notifications on, the device belongs to them from then on.
