Connect your own domain

Every studio on Inkfuchs has a free address that works right away. With the Pro plan or bigger, you can also connect your own domain, for example yourstudio.com. You'll find everything under Settings → Domains. Your studio homepage then runs on your domain.

One domain, www included

• Your plan includes 1 custom domain per studio.
• www is added automatically: if you enter yourstudio.com, www.yourstudio.com belongs to it – and vice versa. Both count as one domain.
• The address you enter is your main address. The other one will later redirect to it. Prefer it the other way round? In the domain's menu, choose Use … instead.
• Another subdomain such as booking.yourstudio.com works too – then without a www partner.

Need more than one domain? Write to hallo@inkfuchs.de – we'll enable it for your studio.

Connected in three steps

1. Enter your domain: Click Connect own domain and enter it without https://. The assistant shows you right away which www address belongs to it.
2. Set the DNS records: Sign in at your domain provider (for example IONOS, Strato, ALL-INKL or Cloudflare) and add the records shown – an A record for @ for your root domain and a CNAME for www. Replace existing A records for @ and delete AAAA records (IPv6) for @.
3. Check: Click Check records now. Inkfuchs checks both addresses. Only when both are right does the domain switch to Being activated.

DNS changes usually show up within a few minutes, sometimes it takes up to 24 hours. You can check again at any time; the assistant shows what it found for each address.

What appears at which address

• Your domain shows your homepage once it is active and the homepage is published. After a successful check Inkfuchs registers it with our host, which issues an SSL certificate – then it switches to Active (another “check” asks for the status). The www address (or the address without www) redirects to your main address automatically.
• Your free Inkfuchs address stays and then redirects to your domain as well – so Google only finds one address.
• If the domain isn't verified yet or isn't active right now (e.g. after the trial on Free), it leads to your free address.

Plan and trial

You can already connect your domain during the trial. If you continue on Free afterwards, the domain stays saved but isn't active – you'll see it in your settings but can't check it. Once you choose a paid plan, it's back instantly, without new setup. You can remove it at any time.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to enter www and without www separately?

No. Enter one of them, the other one is added automatically. You just set both DNS records.

The check doesn't find anything – what now?

Check that the records are saved at your provider and match the values shown exactly. If there's still an old A or AAAA record for @, remove it. Then wait a few minutes and check again.

The domain already belongs to another studio?

Each address can only be connected to one studio – including the www address. If it's your domain, write to hallo@inkfuchs.de.
